2014 Porsche 911 GT3

The new 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 (991) looks like it may be the best GT3 that the company has ever made. That is saying a lot as the 911 is the measuring stick that other sports cars are measured by and the GT3 is the best normally aspirated model that you can buy. This car to most is the driver’s Porsche and is for many the best overall car that you can buy at any price range.

There is one fly in the ointment for many purists and that is the lack of a traditional manual transmission. The rear-engined sports car is only available with a modified seven-speed dual clutch PDK transmission, but according to most that have driven the car it doesn’t take away from the driving experience. As true as that may be it would have been nice to have the option for one transmission or the other.

The press is just starting to get their chance to drive the 911 GT3 and so far most have been pretty happy with it. This review is from Autocar and they put the car through a road test to see how well it performs. It doesn’t look like they are unhappy with it and after watching it we know we want our turn in one.

Checkout the video and then let us know what you think of the 991 GT3 in the comments below. We also want to hear your thoughts on if you would prefer to have the option to buy one with a traditional manual transmission or if PDK only was the right choice.
