Audi R18 e-tron quattro

Audi R18 e-tron quattro at Silverstone

Audi may be the reigning king of endurance racing, but that didn’t help them in the first race of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) season at Silverstone. In that race both Audi R18 e-tron quattros where forced to retire from the race due to accidents.

This has put them behind in the championship points race from the very beginning of the season. That doesn’t figure to help them out as they will be challenged heavily from Porsche and Toyota.

The good news for Audi racing fans is that the season is long and they have Spa coming up next. The team is hoping to get back on the winning track starting this next race as the 24 Hours of Le Mans is soon approaching.

About the coming race, driver Benoît Tréluyer, who won at Spa last year, said:

“At Spa, we’re continuing our competition with the other four hybrid sports cars and the other entrants. At Silverstone, we had a very good beginning of the race. That made the fact that we didn’t finish even more regrettable. I’m very eager to see our potential across a full race distance.”

Will Audi manage a victory at Spa or will Porsche or Toyota get the upper hand? Let us know who you think will win in the comments.
