2015 Dodge Challenger SRT

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT has just upped the horsepower wars even more. The premium muscle car is available in normally aspirated and supercharged forms.

If you go for the supercharge engine then you have about the same horsepower as you get in the McLaren 650S. That is enough power to turn the world in the opposite direction and travel back in time!

The styling of the Challenger SRT is in line with the standard car. In fact except for the SRT badging the normal automotive enthusiast won’t notice the difference between a standard Challenger and the higher performance SRT model.

The styling has that great ’70s inspired look that features bold angles. For the Dodge Challenger SRT you get a functional hood scoop in addition to the muscle car styling. It also gets treated to a lower chin spoiler upfront, a small rear spoiler and a rear diffuser.

All of this helps provide downforce and also helps it to better knife through the air. The Challenger isn’t the most aerodynamic shape, but some slight tweaks to the body help it lower its drag co-efficient the slightest bit.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Interior

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT has a fitting interior. It is modern and offers some nice leather trim and supportive seats. They have done a very good job in increasing the quality of the materials used which helps keep it from looking plasticky.

Choose the tan interior with black trim and it helps keep the interior from looking monochromatic. The inside helps the driver feel like they are driving something special instead just your ordinary muscle car.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Engine

Under the hood of the Challenger SRT is a powerful V8 engine. The normally aspirated 392 HEMI engine puts out a very good 485 horsepower. Normally that would be enough, but SRT has a supercharged Hellcat engine that produces over 600 horsepower. That is enough power to destroy your tires in minutes.

Official performance figures haven’t been released yet, but expect 0-60 mph times to be in the mid-4 second range. Because of all that power from the engine an upgraded six-speed manual or strengthened eight-speed automatic transmission help get the power to the ground.

Official pricing will be announced closer to the muscle car’s release. However, expect for prices to start in the $40,000 range.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT offers huge amounts of power and straight line performance that rivals a Porsche 911 Carrera. You get all that performance with classic styling and plenty of American muscle. Best of all is that it can be had At a fraction of the price of higher end performance cars. This makes the SRT is a bargain. For styling and performance it looks to be the current king of the muscle cars, but it does have stiff competition in the new Chevrolet Camero Z/28 and the upcoming Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
