Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro at Le Mans
The 24 Hours of Le Mans race hasn’t even started and we have already seen a huge crash. On the first day of qualifying Loïc Duval lost control of his Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro and crashed into the wall. The accidentally looked terrible, but Duval was relatively unharmed.
Duval’s Audi after the Crash
The incident happened at over 167 mph on the Porsche Corners. He did stay at the hospital for observation, but according to a release from Audi he has only minor injuries.
As a precaution Mr. Duval will not be racing, but Marc Gené will be replacing him for the 24 hour endurance race. Marc was scheduled to race in LMP2, but just got bumped to the top level. He isn’t a stranger to the car though, as he has driven the R18 in several track tests.
The crash overshadowed the entire first day of qualifying, but Porsche managed to qualify in the first two spots. While Audi is getting a new car ready to replace the pile of ruble that was once a race car.
