Porsche Boxster GT4

Move Over Porsche Boxster GTS, Here Comes the GT4

The Porsche Boxster is considered the lowest of the sports cars currently made by the German performance car maker. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great car. If it wore just about any other badge it would likely be that company’s crowning achievement. But when your big brother is the 911 and the Cayman has a bit more power, you just don’t get considered the top performance car.

However, this perception may be about to change. While the current Boxster is a great handling quick car and the S and GTS up that performance quite a bit, but they can’t quite keep up with a 911 Carrera S.

Well, based on some spy shots it looks as though Porsche is working on a Boxster GT4. The car would be similar to the Cayman GT4 and follow in the footsteps of the GT3.

This means there will soon be a car with near GT3 levels of performance, but with the option to drive with the wind in your hair. Rumors have the Boxster GT4 having as much as 430 horsepower from a 3.8 liter flat six from the 911. If that figure is correct it would be able to outperform a 911 Carrera S and potentially the 991 GTS. It would also be a huge power jump over the 340 horsepower available in the current Boxster GTS.

Check out the spy shots of the Porsche Boxster GT4 and then let us know what you think of it in the comments.

Woks? Is it being stir fried?

Thanks for the letting us know, we have corrected the issue. Although it should perform pretty well as if it was stir fried.

Yeah, I always get a thrill when Porsche cooks up something new.
