Porsche 911 GT3 and Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

Porsche 911 GT3 or Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

Both the Porsche 911 GT3 (991) and Chevy Camaro Z/28 are track focused machines. They aren’t often compared because of the price difference, but they have a lot in common.

The Z/28 is the more analog of the two. It in many ways is more similar to past GT3s than the modern 991 GT3. The Camaro doesn’t have as many computer helpers and it comes with a traditional six-speed manual transmission.

The Chevy is taller, longer and weighs more, but it outputs 30 more horsepower. The V8 is especially strong in the lower RPM ranges compared to the 9,000 RPM revving 911.

But is the Porsche worth the much higher price tag? There is no question that you get a better quality product, but is it enough better?

This video puts the American muscle car and German sports car through a comparison on the track. It shows just how capable each car is and lets you know what makes them so good when driven hard.
