Lotus Evora 400

Lotus Evora 400

The first Lotus Evora 400 has been assembled and a small celebration was held to mark the occasion. Some members of senior management, manufacturing and the engineering staff where invited to the event as the first example drove off the assembly line in Hethel.

Examples of the British mid-engined sports car will be delivered to customers starting in August. However, North American markets will have to want until the 2017 model year to get the car that will start being delivered in early 2016.

Jean-Marc Gales, Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus plc, said, “Today is a very significant stage in our long term plan, which we set-out more than a year ago. With the first Evora 400 coming off the line, we have achieved a key milestone for Lotus.”

“None of this would be possible, of course, without the confidence and commitment of our workforce who, with great skill and talent, hand build every Lotus car at Hethel.”

The Evora 400 uses an aluminum chassis and lightweight body to keep to the philosophy that Lotus is known for. Couple this with the 3.5-liter V6 that outputs 400 horsepower and you get a car that can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 186 mph. The cost of this mid-engined fun starts at $89,900.
