Ferrari Testarossa

Miami Vice Ferrari Testarossa

The above pictured 1986 Ferrari Testarossa had a staring role in the 80’s hit TV show Miami Vice. For folks wanting to own, not only a Ferrari but a piece of TV history, they will be able to purchase this car at auction.

This was the primary Ferrari used by Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, played by Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas, as they fought against Miami’s underworld. Rumor has it that Enzo Ferrari himself proposed that the Ferrari factory could supply two black Testarossas for the show. After getting the cars this one was quickly painted white to allow for better visibility in night scenes..

This example has only 16,124 certified original miles on it. The Testarossa features a 4.9-liter, 390-horsepower flat-12 engine that is mated to a traditional five-speed manual transmission. Shifting goes through a gated shifter, and the interior boasts beige leather, power windows, power locks, power seats, cruise control and air conditioning. After Miami Vice ended its series run in 1989 the car was placed into storage until earlier this year.

The Italian sports car recently had a full engine-out service to guarantee it is in top condition. The price for this was $8,000.

Mecum will auction the car off at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa in the Del Monte Golf Course on August 15th. If you would like to bid on the car, it costs $100 to be a bidder. For those just wanting to watch the auction, it costs $25 for general admission tickets and children under 12 years old are free.

How much do you think this piece of nostalgia will go for?
