Aston Martin Vulcan
This weekend is the running of the 24 Hours of Spa. The race is part of the Blancpain Endurance Series and should be an entertaining event. But for those wanting to see something special there will be two flying laps by a very interesting and very expensive track-only hyper car.
The Aston Martin Vulcan will take to Spa which should be quite a site. The English supercar has styling straight out of Star Trek and about as much horsepower as a spaceship.
The Vulcan is powered by a large 7.0-liter V12 that may make the earth rotate a bit faster with its over 800 horsepower. Now just let that number sink in and remember that the car is not a hybrid and doesn’t use forced induction. Having said that being a track only car, it can produce more emissions than a road car.
Thanks to all of this the car that will cost over two million dollars, is something of a unicorn in today’s auto industry, even if it is a track only toy. If you will be at Spa you can see just how fast it can be in the hands of a professional driver.
“It’s been amazing to have been involved in this project from the beginning,” said Aston Martin works driver Darren Turner. “From the conceptual sketches through to working with the designers on driver ergonomics, it is a fascinating process to be part of.”
“It was very early days for the car when we first ran it at Goodwood Festival of Speed, but we certainly made a good impression and now we get to show the car in its most natural environment. I’m looking forward to our laps prior to the race and then being able to watch one of the best 24-hour events on the calendar.”
