Girl’s Car versus Muscle Car
Much of this is from comments by people on the internet and it has gotten to the point that all roadsters are thought of this way. Many of these people don’t own a high performance car and they just try to put others down for no good reason.
On the other end of the spectrum you have American Muscle cars from the ’60s and ’70s. These are cars that are considered manly machines thanks to their powerful V8 engines and masculine styling.
While these older cars are great in a straight line, they often lack in handling. That is where cars like the Miata and Boxster shine.
Part of the reason that newer roadsters are often called girl’s cars is that their lines are more flowing and less angular. It is interesting that cars like the 550 Spyder are not thought of this way, it is mainly newer machines that have this stigma.
So, are some cars girl’s cars? This is simply perception and if your opinion is changed by what someone else thinks then you are missing out on some fun machines.
