2017 Acura NSX
The first much anticipated next-generation 2017 Acura NSX just sold for $1.2 million. The Japanese hybrid supercar was sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. The car fetched the highest amount ever by the auction house.
The car that will wear VIN 001 was sold to Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and founder of Hendrick Automotive Group. He is now able to custom order the very first production model which will be coming to market this spring. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, based in North Carolina, and Camp Southern Ground in Georgia. This likely had quite a bit to do with the high price that the NSX sold for.
“It was amazing to witness such generosity of spirit and passion for the new NSX,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. “Mr. Hendrick will have the great satisfaction of owning and driving the very first next-generation NSX, and making a difference in the lives of thousands of children.”
For those looking at purchasing a new Acura NSX, the starting price will be $156,000. Custom orders can be placed starting on February 25th at Acura dealers that are authorized to sell the NSX. You can also order it online at Acura.com.
