Porsche 718 Boxster

Porsche 718 Boxster and 911 R Expected to Make Debut in Geneva

Porsche has announced that they will have two debuts at the Geneva Motor Show. We know one will be the new 718 Porsche Boxster, but they have only given a hint to the second vehicle.

Today they announced that a strictly-limited edition car will be announced. That is just enough information to get the blogosphere humming..

Porsche 911 R may Debut at Geneva

Based on recent spy shots and some words from the 911 product line manager August Achleitner (stating that the 911 lineup will grow at Geneva), we are pretty confident that the debut will be the 911 R.

The Porsche 911 R is rumored to be a purists versions of the GT3 RS. This means a manual transmission, skinnier tires and less electronic nannies to give the driver a more pure experience. Expect to find the same power plant used in the GT3 RS to be featured in the R. The limited-edition car is guaranteed to be difficult to purchase and will likely be sold out before production begins.

Porsche 718 Boxster Confirmed to Debut in Geneva

The 718 Boxster is the first version of the mid-engined roadster to use a four-cylinder engine. Although it just has a flat-four instead of a flat-six the power output is higher than the outgoing model. All thanks to turbocharging. The Boxster is also moving up the model lineup and will now sit just above the Cayman.

Geneva Motor Show

The unveiling of the limited-edition car and the 718 Boxster will happen on March 1st at the Geneva Motor Show. So, we have one week before all is known for sure.
