Fiat 124 Spider
Fiat has announced pricing for their new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider. The much anticipated roadster will feature a 160 horsepower 184 lb-ft of torque engine in the standard car. 165 horsepower is available for those that go with the Abarth. The engine is a turbocharged 1.4-liter four cylinder unit, so expect for the after market to offer even more power options.
The 124 Spider is based on the Mazda MX-5, so you know that it should handle well. To say that the automotive press is looking forward to getting their hands on this Fiat is an understatement. When we interviewed MotorWeek’s John Davis at the LA Auto Show the Spider was the car at the show he was most excited about and the new Ford GT was among the machines at the show.
“Our mission at FIAT is to deliver Italian design and heritage in vehicles that are fun to drive,” said Olivier Francois, Head of FIAT Brand. “The all-new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider brings these elements together and comes loaded with open-air fun, stunning Italian design and the proven turbocharged MultiAir 1.4-liter engine.”
The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider will be sold in three trims not including the first 124 cars which will come in a fourth limited edition trim.
Fiat 124 Spider Classica
The Classica is the base level trim, but it still features a dual tip exhaust, black roll bar, body-color A-pillar header, side sills and door handles. 16-inch alloy wheels are standard as are black cloth seats, halogen headlights and LED taillights.
The Classica is available in six colors, Rosso Passione (red clear coat), Bianco Gelato (white clear coat), Nero Cinema (jet black metallic), Grigio Argento (gray metallic), Grigio Moda (dark gray metallic) and Bronzo Magnetico (bronze metallic).
The Fiat 124 Spider Classica starts at $24,995 for the manual transmission. If you don’t what to shift yourself that price raises to $26,345.
Fiat 124 Spider Lusso
For those wanting a more luxurious roadster the next trim level is the Lusso (meaning luxury in Italian). The Fiat rides on standard 17-inch alloy wheels, silver painted A-pillar header and roll bar as well as dual-tip chrome exhaust. Inside you get Nero (black) or Saddle colored heated leather seats. The cluster binnacle is wrapped in matching leatherette as is the lower instrument panel.
The Fiat 124 Spider Lusso is available in all the same colors as the Classica but with the addition of Bianca Perla (crystal white pearl tri-coat).
The 124 Spider Lusso starts at $27,495 when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission. The automatic raises the price to $28,845.
Fiat 124 Spider Abarth
The Abarth is the sportiest option in the lineup. It offers 165 horsepower instead of 160 horsepower. For handling you get a front and rear Bilstein sport suspension, a limited-slip differential and a front strut tower bar. It also offers a Sport Mode and sport-tuned chrome quad-tip exhaust. It gets a more aggressive front and rear fascia that are complimented by 17-inch gun metal aluminum wheels. You can also get a hood stripe, Brembo brakes and Recaro seats.
Five colors are available for the Abarth, Bianco Gelato (white clear coat), Rosso Passione (red clear coat), Nero Cinema (jet black metallic), Grigio Argento (gray metallic) and tri-coat Bianco Perla (crystal white pearl).
The Fiat 124 Spider Abarth starts at $28,195 when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission. The price tag rises to $29,545 if you decide you don’t want the third pedal.
Fiat 124 Spider Prima Edizione Lusso
As we said earlier the first 124 vehicles will be offered in the limited edition Prima Edizione Lusso trim. Each will be numbered with a badge to specify the production unit number. The special edition is available in the exclusive Azzurro Italia (Blue) paint color and comes with leather seats in Saddle. Those buying the Prima Edizione Lusso also get a matching blue leather bag, a journal with pen and a poster featuring the original design illustration.
The Fiat 124 Spider Prima Edizione Lusso starts at $35,000 but only 124 are available.
