Mercedes-AMG GT R
At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed the new Mercedes-AMG GT R made its world debut. The street legal car is powerful and fast, but it is the sound that turns most heads. The exhaust sound is very loud and it crackles when downshifting.
The styling looks very similar to the standard GT, but in a more aggressive form. This is largely thanks to its aerodynamic features and the large rear wing. It also features active aerodynamics.
The twin-turbocharged V8 under the hood of the GT R offers 577 horsepower on tap and 516 lb-ft of torque is available from 1,900 to 5,500 RPMs. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission which helps it launch from 0-60 months in 3.5 seconds. Flat out it can hit a top speed 198 mph.
This video shows the world premier of the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The debut features Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton as well as footage of the car being driven on the road and track. It also captures the intoxicatingly sound of the exhaust note.
