Chevy Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition
The Chevrolet Camaro has been with us for 50 years now. To commemorate the anniversary of the beloved pony car the American automaker has many events planned. They are also offering a 50th Anniversary edition Camaro.
The planned events are scheduled for August 18th, 19th and 20th and are part of the Woodward Dream Cruise activities. There will be plenty of Camaros, including rare machines and examples from the each of the performance machine’s six generations. Including the 2017 Camaro ZL1 and 1LE models.
“Over the past half-century, the Camaro has fostered enthusiasm, camaraderie and memories like few other vehicles,” said Steve Majoros, marketing director of Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers. “It’s a passion Chevrolet takes seriously and the activities this summer are a way of giving back to those who have made the Camaro an icon.”
It all gets started at the Lansing Grand River plant on August 18th. Camaro will be prominent at the event with with a car show, heritage display and discussions with Camaro team members, including Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser.
“This is an unprecedented opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at building the Camaro from the ground up,” said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. “Whether you’re a Camaro owner or simply a fan, it’s an event you won’t want to miss.”
At 7:30am on August 19th will be Camaros and Coffee. It will be held at the Joe Louis Arena Riverfront parking lot, at 19 Steve Yzerman Dr., in downtown Detroit. Space is limited to just 500 cars so if you want to go you had better get there early as it is first come, first serve. At 9:45am the 50th Anniversary edition Camaros will lead the Camaro Rally participants toward Woodward Avenue, where they can drive the famous cruise route into the afternoon.
On the 20th a special Camaro heritage display will be available at Chevrolet’s site for the Woodward Dream Cruise. If you will be near Detroit, Michigan then this will be the place to be for automotive enthusiasts.
