Dodge Grand Caravan SRT Hellcat
For people with a family that want to get that muscle car feeling, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the ultimate machine. The 707 horsepower car can take a family of up to five to a destination very quickly, but what if your family is larger than five or you need room to take the entire carpool?
Your option becomes between a minivan or an SUV. Fast SUVs that seat at least seven are hard to find and fast minivans are simply impossible. But maybe that shouldn’t be the case. Perhaps Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) should produce the worlds fastest and most powerful minivan, the Dodge Grand Caravan SRT Hellcat.
Just what would it take to make a Grand Caravan into a fire breathing machine? First the 283 horsepower 3.2-liter V6 would need to be replaced with the 707 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found in the Charger and Challenger Hellcat models. Some modifications to the front engine bay may need to be made to fit the larger power plant, but it should be possible. A hood that allows for increased air intake and air outlet to help keep things cooler would be fitted.
The transmission choice for the fast family hauler would be the quick shifting 8-speed automatic already found in the Charger and Challenger. The drivetrain layout may require some work in order to make the vehicle rear-wheel drive. The suspension would need to be upgraded to assist with high speed cornering.
Of course with over 700 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque on tap good brakes are a must. Six-piston front Brembo brake calipers and four-piston units in the rear would be fitted. Rear downforce is vital for handling and keeping traction on the track. Because of this a spoiler similar to that on the Challenger (or it could be a small wing like the Charger) would get put to good use. Finishing up the aerodynamics would be a front splitter to help provide added downforce to the front wheels.
