Mark Webber

Mark Webber

Just last year Mark Webber was driving at the top level of Le Mans during a very successful season for the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 car. Before driving with Porsche, Mark was a very good driver in the little known series called Formula 1. In November of 2016 Mark stepped away from racing, but continued his relationship with Porsche as a brand ambassador.

Apparently, Mark has missed getting behind the wheel on the track and is looking for a job that gets him back to pushing the limits. Season two of The Grand Tour starts December 8th and it has been announced that their test driver, “The American”, will not be returning (and there was much rejoicing). Mark heard about the job opening and was interested.

Below is his audition for the show and we think he would be great (at least if Amazon can’t get the rights to the “Stig” as BBC will no longer be featuring the test driver in the new Top Gear), as long as they only test cars from Porsche.
