Porsche 911 R
The Porsche 911 R is a special car. It is a modern driver’s car with great performance, and a manual transmission. There are faster cars wearing a Porsche badge, but few others will give you the same kind of experience (perhaps the 911 GT3 Touring).
The MSRP of the Porsche 911 R is $184,900, but with only 991 made you expect a bit of markup. But the amount that is being asked for a 911 R is out of this world.
We did some research and the cheapest Porsche 911 R we could find is $345,000. When you remember that this car is just a few years old, you begin to wonder if this pricing is sustainable. We found that a number of the 911 R vehicles for sale had an asking price of over $500,000. A few have even push close to $700,000. When you think this puts a 911 R into the same price range as a Porsche Carrera GT and this just seems crazy.
We aren’t saying that the modern 911 R isn’t a future collector car, because it is. We just think that this current bubble is likely to burst and prices will become more realistic before they eventually start to grow again.
If you are one of the fortunate ones to own a 911 R, remember that you owe the car to drive it. Sure that won’t help the value of the car, but it would be a shame not to enjoy it as a wonderful driver’s machine.
