Porsche 924 Carrera GT
Magnus Walker is one of the biggest Porsche enthusiasts in the world. He has a huge collection of air-cooled 911s, which is what gained him fame as a car guy. He now has a new goal to collect one of every type of sports car that Porsche has made (interestingly, the Boxster didn’t make his list, but the Cayman did).
Recently, Magnus has been collecting front-engined water cooled sports cars from the German automaker. His stable now includes a Porsche 924 Carrera GT.
The Porsche 924 is an unloved Porsche. Introduced in the late 70’s it was originally to be sold as a Volkswagen with Porsche designing the vehicle using mainly VW / Audi parts. However, VW changed their plans and Porsche bought the design back resulting in it being sold as a Porsche. The 924 had some PR issues due to its use of an Audi power plant and the fact that, especially in America, the 924 wasn’t incredibly fast (although it did handle like a dream).
Thanks to turbocharging and wider wheel arches, the Porsche 924 Carrera GT transformed the 924 into a high performance machine. The limited production 924 Carrera GT also proved to be a potent racing machine, helping to show what the platform was capable of.
This video features Magnus Walker showing off his 924 Carrera GT. He shows how he customized the vehicle and one of his favorite roads. He also mentions the cars he is looking to add to his collection.
