I’ve owned my 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera for over five years now. The car that was at one time the cheapest Porsche 911 in the country was certainly a gamble.
Owning any 25 year old vehicle is going to have its ups and downs.
This old 911 has proven overall dependable and has been a fun project. The car is slowly undergoing a transformation that is intended to make it the ultimate 996 build (at least for my taste).
Beyond regular maintenance, I’ve installed an infotainment system to allow for Apple Car Play to be used.
But the big change is a Fister Sport Exhaus which makes it a more involving driving experience. I have a number of additional performance related changes coming, but the 25 year old car has provided a great platform to enjoy every chance I get.
Watch this video for full details on the maintenance that has been done including how much I’ve spent. I also explain how this old 911 feels when you drive it. After watching let me know in the comments what you think of the 996 generation Porsche 911.
