Audi and BMW have announced that they will be leaving Formula E. Audi will return to endurance racing and will now return to competing at the top level of Le Mans.

With Audi’s announcement the question is what does this mean for their VW Group stable mate, Porsche? The history of Porsche at the top level of Le Mans is epic. From the Porsche 917 to the most recent top level winner, the 919 Hybrid it is the stuff of legend.

Porsche 997 Turbo VS Nissan GT-R VS BMW M5 Competition

The Porsche 997 Turbo, Nissan GT-R and BMW M5 Competition are all machines that just about any enthusiast would give their left arm to drive. All three use forced induction to make enough power to rotate the earth.

The new BMW M5 Competition costs the same as a tuned Nissan GT-R or a 997 Turbo. In this case the GT-R was modified by Litchfield and the 997 by ES Motor.

When people ask me about buying a used performance car, among other things, I always recommend buying the best well maintained example that they can afford. This can end up saving you thousands of dollars in future repairs and will often end up costing less than buying a vehicle with needs.

Modern BMWs are known as the “ultimate driving machine”, but this can come at a high price. BMWs get hit hard with depression, which can make them a tempting purchase, but repair costs are often high on these luxury cars.

James Bond is known to drive some great, normally British, vehicles. However, in the mid-90’s Bond for the first time drove a non-British vehicle as his primary spy car, the German BMW Z3.

Not only was the Z3 not made in England, but it wasn’t incredibly fast. The model used for GoldenEye used an in-line four-cylinder engine producing just 138 horsepower. This resulted in a 0-60 mph time of 8.1 seconds. That won’t get you away from too many villains trying to kill you.
