Both vehicles have received much acclaim, in fact they were named Motor Trend’s car and truck of the year. Both cars will be positioned behind centerfield of Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.

Chevrolet has pulled the cover off the Camaro ZL1. The big number that will hit you in the face is 640 horsepower. That’s a lot of power and for those that choose an automatic transmission, the shift time will no longer hold you back.

The American performance car offers just 10 horses less than the Corvette Z06. Unlike the Corvette the Camaro offers rear seats which come in handy when you want to take younger children (or a cramped adult) for a ride with a passenger already in the front.

Earlier this week Chevrolet unveiled the 1LE Package for the sixth generation Camaro. The upgrade helps give the American pony car a bit more punch when you take it on the track. While complete performance stats are not available, the suspension and tire upgrades help the Camaro manage 1G of lateral grip.

The other big story for the 2017 1LE is that it is no longer only an option for the V8 powered SS. Now if can be added to a V6 model for people that want better fuel economy with the improved handling.

Last year Chevrolet let us enjoy a fifth-generation Camaro with the 1LE Package and it made for quite the machine. The car we were given even had the optional Recaro seats (and they are definitely worth the extra cost). The package transformed the already capable SS into a better handling more potent machine ready to take on the track.

This time around all the handling fun is also available for sixth-generation cars with the V6 power plant as well as the V8. The upgraded suspension, brakes and tires really allow you to perform better in the curves. However, it is the cooling improvements that are probably the biggest feature on the track as they help protect your engine when you put it through a grueling day of hard driving.
