The Financial Times is reporting that Apple is attempting to purchase McLaren. The acquisition is thought to be one to further the company’s plans to a self driving car.

However, the fact that they are looking at an exclusive nameplate is a bit of a puzzle. Certainly McLaren has the engineers and technology that it can make a car for Apple, but should it? Currently, the Marquee stands for one of the most exclusives supercar brands in the world.

Carbon Fiber McLaren P1 Tribute And 675LT Spider Will Be At The Geneva Motor Show

McLaren has announced two special cars for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but if you want to purchase either of them it is too late. The first of these special machines is a carbon fiber tribute P1 made by the folks in the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division. The P1 features visible carbon fiber with a “Lio Blue” tint lacquer. The entire carbon body is hand-laid.

The carbon fiber theme continues on the inside as it is throughout the vehicle. The supportive seats with P1 headrest lettering feature Alcantara. This is one of the 375 P1s that were produced before the hybrid supercar ended production.

Just unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the McLaren McLaren 675LT JVCKENWOOD Concept. The concept took a 675LT prototype and added JVCKENWOOD technology along with some Formula 1 touches to celebrate the brand’s 25 years in the racing series.

The reason they used a pre-production model was that production had not started on the model as of the time that the concept started to be built. Only 500 production 675LTs will be produced and they have already sold them all.

evo Names Their Car Of The Year

The end of the year is just weeks away, so it is no surprise to see most publications naming their car of the year. evo is no exception and the U.K. based publication had the difficult task of testing each machine on some beautiful back roads.

For the location they chose some of the best back roads in Scotland. For the cars they had a range of supercars, sports cars, muscle cars and hot hatches. Let’s just say that work has never seemed less like work.
