McLaren Senna

On paper the McLaren Senna is the type of car any enthusiast wants in their garage. However, one does have to look at the outside of the car from time to time and this one is as beautiful as a turd. Normally we love McLaren styling, but there is something funky with the styling of the Senna that is hard to put our finger on. It looks a bit like the supercar that Homer Simpson might design.

Even though we aren’t fans of the styling, the performance is enough to make us want to get in the driver’s seat. I mean if we had McLaren Senna kind of money, buying a blind fold to wear while our butler walked us to the car isn’t too much to ask. However, even if you are worth billions and wanted to buy a McLaren Senna it is too late.

This past weekend was a huge one in the Automotive world. You had the first big race of the year in the Rolex 24 and the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction also taking place. One of the cars to cross the auction block at the latter was the very first six-generation 2016 COPO Camaro. The purpose built drag racing machine was built with the aid of NHRA driver Courtney Force. It is designed to race in the NHRA Stock Eliminator class and should be very competitive in the class.

The competition Camaro was purchased by an unnamed bidder. At the same auction the first 2016 Chevy Camaro SS was bought for $500,000 by Hendrick Motorsport owner and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group, Rick Hendrick. At the auction he also bought the first 2017 Acura NSX for $1.2 million. The race car did not manage to go for as high a price as the street car, but it was still about $200,000 over the MSRP.

The first much anticipated next-generation 2017 Acura NSX just sold for $1.2 million. The Japanese hybrid supercar was sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. The car fetched the highest amount ever by the auction house.

The car that will wear VIN 001 was sold to Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and founder of Hendrick Automotive Group. He is now able to custom order the very first production model which will be coming to market this spring. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, based in North Carolina, and Camp Southern Ground in Georgia. This likely had quite a bit to do with the high price that the NSX sold for.

We are just a couple of weeks away from Monterey Car Week. The time when automotive enthusiasts migrate to automotive Mecca and check out some beautiful machines. For many it is about looking at their dream cars, but for some it can turn into a shopping trip.

There are quite a few classic and exotic vehicles that hit various auction blocks over the week. While the majority of cars at most auctions will be American muscle cars or hot rods, there are also some premium cars available. One of our favorite performance nameplates is Ferrari and it will have a good presence during the week.
