Hybrid Car of the Year Nominees

Over the past few weeks we have been awarding the best performance cars of the year in various categories. We now come to a category that just a few years ago didn’t exist for a performance car. The Hybrid Car of the Year.

This is the category that represents the future of the sports car. Currently, most of the entrants are extremely high priced supercars (with one exception), but with strict government regulations more and more vehicles will look at hybrid drivetrains to bridge the gap from gas powered to electric powered automobiles.

Porsche 911 GT3

After weeks of choosing the best American, Asian and European Performance Cars of 2014, we have finally named our Performance Car of the Year. The award goes to the Porsche 911 GT3 (991).

The GT3 beat out the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Nissan GT-R for the top honor. We asked for your input on it and on this blog and our social media accounts you let us know that you thought the Porsche was the best of the bunch.

We then talked it over and agreed with you. The 911 GT3 has a special feel when driving it. The car communicates beautifully and it is made for the track.

Even so, it is able to be used as a daily driver that gives you a great driving experience, even in traffic. The build quality is top notch and being a Porsche it should be fairly reliable.

Congratulations to the Porsche 911 GT3 for being names our Performance Car of the Year (2014). Now we can’t wait to see the GT3 RS make its debut this year.

Jaguar F-Type

Jaguar F-Type

With 2013 over various entities that are involved in the automotive industry are naming their best cars of 2013. Most would agree that the Jaguar F-Type was one of the best cars of last year. The roadster (and later introduced coupe version) was available in various levels of performance, but the big supercharged V8 provides one of the most fun experiences that one could have in an open-aired sports car.

The F-Type has a raw emotional connection that is missing from many cars today. Where many others a numb feeling the F-Type makes you feel like you are part of the machine and will put a huge grin on your face.

It thus comes as no surprise that when Autobytel named its Car of the Year that the British sports car came one top. It is after all one of a few more or less affordable sports cars that will make you feel like a kid again.
