Recently, three very powerful American Muscle cars have been released. The Ford Mustang GT350, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat are all not only powerful, but they can actually handle pretty well on a track.

The Dodge has the most horsepower with 707 and can eat through a set of tires like nobody’s business. The Ford and Chevy both have over 500 horsepower, which is much less than the Challenger, but they both weigh less.

Styling of all three is great and on a track they would be very close to each other. So, which would you choose, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat or Ford Mustang GT350?

Both the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and Shelby Mustang GT350 are high performance American muscle cars. But these aren’t your Dad’s muscle car, these can actually go around corners very well.

The Camaro puts out 505 horsepower from an LS7 V8 engine. It also features a wonderful close ratio six speed manual transmission, performance suspension and some weight reduction over the standard Camaro.

The Shelby Mustang GT350 is what everyone is talking about right now, partly because it is new. The official performance figures are yet to be released, but we do know it will have over 500 horsepower.

But the big thing with the new GT350 is the re-worked suspension. With its performance tuned independent rear suspension the Ford has finally come to the 21st century.

From a performance stand point both cars should be pretty close on the track. Depending on the final horsepower figure the Mustang may have an advantage on the drag strip, but when you throw in a few corners and it could be either car’s advantage.

So, which would you choose, the Shelby Mustang GT350 or Chevrolet Camaro Z/28?

You Choose: Mustang King Cobra, Challenger SRT Hellcat Or Camaro Z28

High performance American muscle cars can be a ton of fun. At one time this type of car couldn’t handle a corner to save its life, but these new cars can actually take a turn very well.

But which high performance muscle car would you choose, the Ford Mustang King Cobra, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat or the Chevrolet Camaro Z28?

The Camaro is the low power car in this mix. It only has 500 horsepower, but it is a sharp track focused machine.

The Mustang offers over 600 horsepower and can run the quarter mile in 10.97 seconds (on drag tires). The only downside is that one must buy a GT and then add on the parts to make it a King Cobra.

The Challenger offers the most power with 707 horsepower. It may be the heaviest of the bunch, but it really looks the part and it can run the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds on street tires (10.8 on drag radials).

So, which American performance car would you choose?

Video: Jessi Lang Drives A 1969 Camaro Z/28 At Laguna Seca

As part of Monterey Car Week Motor Trend is having a week of videos featuring classic cars. The most recent video is from their J-Turn program which features Jessi Lang driving an original 1969 Canaro Z/28 Trans Am race car.

For those who aren’t huge Chevy guys this car is just insane. It puts out 500 horsepower and yet it has brakes that are unassisted and steering from a area long past.

This video features Jessi taking two hot laps in the car. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to drive it longer because the exhaust system was louder than allowed at Laguna Seca.

Jessi has been recovering from an accident on the Autobahn that left her pretty much stuck in bed for a while. She is still recovering but it is good to see her able to get back behind the wheel.

Video: Is This Camaro Wearing The Best Advertising Job Ever

By   August 7, 2014

This Street Camaro Racing Livery is all One Big Advertisement

This Street Camaro Wearing Racing Livery is all One Big Advertisement

Earlier this week we spotted the car in this video outside of our office. We walked over to it to take a closer look at what looked like a Chevrolet Camaro wearing racing livery, complete with sponsors.

As we got closer we found out that it was actually an advertisement for a local camera shop. They were cleaver in how they placed things, such as the number on the doors that as you got closer, you realized said that it was the shop’s “77th anniversary”.

We’ve seen plenty of advertising for stores or services on cars, but the racing theme made this one special. It really helped to catch your eye.

We think it is the best road going vehicle advertising that we have seen. But, what do you think? Let us know in the comments.
