The 911 is one of the few true high performance sports cars that you can purchase with a rear seat. But does the existence of rear seating make the Porsche 911 a family car? Is there enough room for the family to ride around town in style?

Now obviously we aren’t recommending using the rear-engined sports car as an only family carrier, but can you at least take the occasional family cruise? What if you have smaller children, can you fit a car seat in the back of a 911?

The Porsche 911 Turbo is a very quick machine. With 540 horsepower, a 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph it is fast by any definition of the word.

But the rear-engined Porsche wearing the Turbo badge is no longer the only turbocharged 911. As you likely know, the 991.2 variant of the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S now use twin-turbochargers.

For the 2017 model year the Porsche 911 will only offer turbocharged models outside of the higher performance GT3 variants (and possibly the GTS). The 911 Carrera and Carrera S will now come with a smaller displacement 3.0-liter flat-six that will be twin-turbocharged (which should give the aftermarket enough to work with). The addition of forced induction increases the power output with a smaller engine, but it also changes the exhaust note. It still sounds good, but not quite the same as the naturally aspirated engine of the first generation 991.

This past weekend the new Porsche 911 Carrera was along side some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthy and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Critics’ Choice Awards gave the rear engined sports car the chance to fit right in with the celebrities as they took photo opps in front of the car.
