The coupe version of the Lamborghini Centenario made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, but there were already 20 people purchasing all the available units of the roadster version. Lamborghini has kept quite about when public will see the open aired version of the car made to celebrate Ferruccio Lamborghini’s 100th birthday.

Those that purchased the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster without seeing it can get an idea of how it will look from the coupe version. You know the styling will be over the top and the performance will rival just about anything.

Ferruccio Lamborghini was born 100 years ago and to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of their founder, Lamborghini has created a wild one-off supercar. The Centenario is a very limited edition car with only 20 coupes and 20 roadsters planned for production.

The cost of entry is just under $2 million and for that you get a car with over the top styling. Fittingly it is powered by a V12 engine sitting in the middle of the car.

The story of how Lamborghini started making sports cars is the stuff of legend. Ferruccio Lamborghini was a successful tractor builder who bought a Ferrari 250 GT. After driving the car he thought there was room for improvement, so he brought his requests straight to Enzo Ferrari. Mr. Ferrari declined to make any changes and told Lamborghini to stick to building tractors. This lead Ferruccio to start making cars and a rivalry between the two Italian companies started.

2016 would have been Mr. Lamborghini’s 100th birthday. To celebrate the memory of the brand’s founder, the performance car maker is reported to be working on a special car, the Lamborghini Centenario.
