Three years ago Porsche released the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The stripped down track ready version of the Cayman GT4 was perfect for club racing.

Now the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport takes this to the next level. The mid-engined sports car features a 3.8-liter flat-six sitting behind the driver and in front of the rear axle. With 425 horsepower, a 40 horsepower increase over the previous GT4 Clubsport, pushing just 2,904 lbs., the Clubsport is pretty fast.

It’s a story that has been written plenty of times before – The Death of the Porsche 911. Simply put, rumors of the rear-engined sports car’s death have been greatly exaggerated. Needless to say the 911 is going very strong and it just appears to keep getting better each year.

But is there another performance vehicle from the German automaker that may threaten to replace the king? With the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport GT4 MR making its debut at the Total 24 Hours of Spa it could be the beginning of the end.

One of the more anticipated debuts at the LA Auto Show is the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The street-legal version of the GT4 transforms the Cayman and it starts to reach its full potential. Many were disappointed when a GT4 RS rumors had been dismissed.

The RS version may not be destined for production, but a track ready Clubsport version is. The car may be powered by the same 385 horsepower flat-six engine as the standard GT4, but it is a lighter more focused machine.

Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport To Make Debut At LA Auto Show

Porsche has announced that a Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be produced and that the new track ready car will make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The GT4 is already a very capable mid-engined machine powered by an engine sourced from the 911 Carrera S.

Add the nice power plant and the fact that many GT3 parts are found on the suspension and you have the formula for a very good car on the track. The Clubsport will take that to the next level of performance.
