2016 COPO Camaro
This past weekend was a huge one in the Automotive world. You had the first big race of the year in the Rolex 24 and the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction also taking place. One of the cars to cross the auction block at the latter was the very first six-generation 2016 COPO Camaro. The purpose built drag racing machine was built with the aid of NHRA driver Courtney Force. It is designed to race in the NHRA Stock Eliminator class and should be very competitive in the class.
The competition Camaro was purchased by an unnamed bidder. At the same auction the first 2016 Chevy Camaro SS was bought for $500,000 by Hendrick Motorsport owner and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group, Rick Hendrick. At the auction he also bought the first 2017 Acura NSX for $1.2 million. The race car did not manage to go for as high a price as the street car, but it was still about $200,000 over the MSRP.
