As you have probably heard it appears that more than just Volkswagens are affected by the Diesel cheating software. The EPA is claiming that Audi and Porsche diesel automobiles were also sold with the software that made the vehicles run more environmentally friendly when being tested for emissions, but in normal conditions it produced much more pollution.

Originally it was thought that Porsche did not use the software and according to a statement from Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), they had no knowledge of their SUVs using the software. The fact that the U.S. branch of the performance car maker didn’t know this is very likely as they don’t produce the cars here. At question is if the 2015 Cayenne Diesel also attempts to get around the system.

The Cayenne GTS gets the above equipment plus Porsche’s active suspension system with adjustable ride height (known as PASM), a lower ride height to improve highway handling, 20-inch wheels, a different final-drive ratio, upgraded brakes, the enhanced speed-sensitive steering, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, the Turbo’s more aggressive front fascia, the SportDesign exterior body kit package, front and rear GTS-specific sport seats, a sport steering wheel and extensive use of faux suede in the interior. Many of these items are available separately on the lower trims.

2015 Trident Iceni The World’s Fastest Diesel Sports Car

When you think of fast sports cars a diesel powered machine probably doesn’t come to mind. Sure Audi has had success racing cars that use diesel fuel at Le Mans in recent years, but for the road diesel usual belongs in trucks or slower family sedans.

Well, Trident has decided to change all of that. The British company has built the 2015 Trident Iceni which is the worlds fastest diesel powered sports car. They also have just announced that it will be made available world wide.

The styling of the car resembles what one might think a modern Jaguar E-Type might look like. There are also some TVR influences with the design. It has flowing lines and side exhaust pipes the come out from the lower portion of the body.

The contour of the body is very smooth and the chrome gas cap makes for a sporty accent. The front is sloping and the rear bumper is rounded giving the diesel machine a very aerodynamic looking shape.

Not much has been release about the interior, but it is expected to be made of fine quality materials. This includes full leather and nice accents.

The sports car can run on 100% bio-diesel or mineral diesel fuel. It has been said that it is torque that moves you and Trident has put this to the test.

They have developed something called torque multiplication technology. PThis allows the 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 outputs a good 395 horsepower, but it also puts out a time traveling 700 pound-feet of torque.

All of this allows for good performance and good fuel economy. Just how good? The Iceni can hit speeds of over 190 mph and yet can travel 2,000 miles on a single tank of fuel. And it is pretty quick, going from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

The 2015 Trident Iceni starts at 96,000 British Pounds (about $162,000) and has limited pre-launch availability.

The 2015 Trident Iceni sounds like an interest concept, but until we can drive one there is no way to tell how well it accelerates. The impressive fuel mileage and top speed are interesting, but if the acceleration isn’t as fast as one would expect from a modern sports car then it will be a hard sell.

We hope that the concept holds true as it would appear to have plenty of potential.
