Porsche 918 Spyder vs Lamborghini Aventador Pirelli Edition
Each day we will share an automotive video that we think you will enjoy. Unlike other articles featuring a video we won’t give our thoughts on this video, but will just give a brief description and share the car related footage.
What is faster in a straight line, a Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S? Both are large fast vehicles, but they belong in separate market segments.
The Cayenne is an SUV and is much taller than its Mercedes rival. It has been engineered to seemingly defy the laws of physics, giving performance that one would expect in a sports car, even with the large package.
The S63 AMG on the other hand is a luxury sedan. It is a larger car, but sits much lower and has a lower roof line than the SUV. Combine this with the brute force of the engine and you have a very fast family car.
The Porsche is faster from 0-60 mph, in spite of it sitting higher (which in normal driving is perhaps more important than who would win a drag race, but that isn’t as entertaining). But, will that speed continue all the way to the finish line? Put your guess as to who will win in the comments and then watch the video to find out.
A Porsche Panama Turbo S Drag Races a Supercharged Ariel Atom
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S and Ariel Atom aren’t two cars that one would normally compare. After all the Panamera is a refined performance sedan with all the luxury that one would expect from a car with its price tag. The Atom, on the other hand, is a track focused machine that doesn’t even have a windshield.
The Ariel Aton doesn’t have that much power by today’s high standards, even the supercharged version. However, it doesn’t take too much power when the car weights about the same as a postage stamp.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S has 570 horsepower, but weights about the same as a skyscraper. However, for a heffalump the car feels quite nimble and fast when driving it, especially on the track.
In this video evo decided to pit the two performance machines against each other in a drag race. The race is one of a powerful heavyweight against a featherweight, but who will win.
Let us know who will win in the comments and then watch the video to see if you are right.
This video is of a Porsche 911 Turbo drag racing a Bugatti Veyron and a BMW S1000RR sports bike on an unused runway. The 911 Turbo is a 997 variant and there is little doubt that the Veyron will have no problem beating the competition. The Porsche does get a jump start in the video, but the turbocharged flat-six just can’t keep up with the huge W-16.
The Veyron features a 2.4 seconds 0 to 60 mph time, so there aren’t many cars that can keep up with it. If the race was against the new 991 Turbo S the race would have been closer as that car has a 0 to 60 mph as low as 2.8 seconds, but the Bugatti would still win. However, with the Porsche costing a fraction of the cost and still being able to dust most cars on the track the rear-engined sports car looks pretty good.
