Porsche 911 Carrera Or Maserati GranTurismo

If you are like me you often find yourself looking at the going rate of used sorts cars. Thanks to depreciation, someone that makes a decent, but not huge, income can drive a car that when new would be well out of reach.

Recently, I’ve been looking at getting a 997 generation Porsche 911 Carrera. The going rate for a well maintained car in the 2008 model year is in the $25,000 – $35,000 range. This is for a car with between 60,000 and 90,000 miles on it (obviously, you pay less for higher mileage examples).

Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is as close to a Porsche 911 GT3 as you can get from the Italian performance car maker. It offers great performance and quite a sound in a very special looking package.

The purposeful sports car overall is great and fun to drive, although Maserati does need to get with the times and use a dual clutch transmission (they could even just call on their friends over at Ferrari and see if they could get one from them). Even with this downside if one goes for a GranTuriamo MC Stradale over something from Ferrari or Lamborghini they want to stand out from the crowd even more than those already special cars.

In this video our friends at XCAR take a drive in a Maserati GranTuriamo MC Stradale and gives you a sense of how good the Italian car can be. It also captures the great exhaust sound when the sports car is put in race mode.

Recently, we spotted a Maserati GranTurismo in the parking lot outside of our office. The Italian sports car is a fairly rare sight. You tend to see the Quattroporte more often than the coupe.

This GranTurismo should be powered by a 4.7-liter V8 that puts out 454 horsepower and is capable of rocketing from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. When the car was new the price started at $126,000.

This short video walks around the performance machine. It shows the design features of the Maserati including the unique trident pattern on the rims.
