Video: Ferrari LaFerrari Design Secrets

By   August 2, 2013

Ferrari LaFerrari

Ferrari LaFerrari

The Ferrari LaFerrari looks like it will be one of the most technologically advanced cars ever built. The powerful hybrid supercar has head turning styling and performance to match. This isn’t a Toyota Prius type of hybrid. It is a car that will be able to pass just about any other car on the road. It is one of three hybrid supercars that will be coming out this year or next and will be competing with the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder.

This video features an interview with Flavio Manzone who is the design boss at Ferrari. He talks about the design of the new car and how it includes new technology as well as taking queues from past Prancing Horse supercars. The interview was done at the Ferrari Museum and features footage of many of the cars from the Italian sports car maker.

Video: Life With A Ferrari Dino 208 GT4

Ferrari Dino 208 GT4

The Ferrari Dino 208 GT4 is an often overlooked car. The first problem it has (just like the 308 GT4) is that it has a back seat. The next issue is that the engine in its big brother 308 GT4 is much bigger. The 208 GT4 was created to get around the Italian tax that was put on engines with a displacement of over two liters.

As has been said before, there is no replacement for displacement. But is that true with the 208? The car has very ’70s styling that looks great and even though it isn’t as big a V8 as the 308, it has what is perhaps an even better sound. One of the other greats things about it is that it is one of the Ferraris that can be had for a reasonable price (OK, so it was badged a Dino).

This video features an interview with Bradley Price who has owned one of these cars for over a year. He gives his take on the car and lets you know just why he loves his car so much.

Let us know in the comments below what you think of the Ferrari Dino 208 GT4.

Video: Fernando Alonso Driving The Nurburgring In A F12 Giving An Interview

Fernando Alonso Driving The Nurburgring In A F12berlinetta While Giving An Interview

Fernando Alonso Drives the Nuburgring While being Interview in a F12berlinetta

The Ferrari F12berlinetta is a very powerful car, in fact it is almost as powerful as the Formula One car driven by Fernando Alonso. It is also the car that Jeremy Clarkson said has a bit too much power. The other day we shared an article about Alonso giving an interview while driving the V12 monster at the Nurburgring.

At that time we didn’t have the video of the interview to share, but fortunately it has been posted to YouTube. The video shows the interview which is given in Italian, so there are subtitles. The entire interview is given while driving the Nurburgring, which makes it more entertaining. It is actually a very interesting interview in itself, but getting to watch the F12berlinetta go around the track makes it even better.

Video: An Interview With The Owner Of A 300 Horsepower 1971 Porsche 911T

A 300 Horsepower 1971 Porsche 911T

John Wilholt and His 1971 Porsche 911T

A 300 horsepower 1971 Porsche 911T is going to be scary fast. The light weight rear-engined sports car is already a good performer, but when you put in a 3.2 liter tuned engine, you get quite a German hot rod. For John Wilholt his entire adult life has been a German thing. His wife is of German decent, he speaks German and he loves and works on German cars.

If you are in Southern California and want your Porsche restored, John’s shop is one of the best places to get that done. The only problem is that right now there is a year waiting list before you can even get your restoration started at the shop. But his love for the cars isn’t just about his work and that is where the ’71 911T comes in.

This video shows John talking about his life with Porsches and about the custom 911. It also tells the story of how the rear-engined car was found in a state of disrepair and then built to the wonderful car that it is today. One of the most amazing parts of the car is that it is still wearing its original paint.

Checkout the video and then let us know if you’d like to drive a 300 horsepower 911T in the comments below.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso Gives Interview While Driving The Nurburgring

Ferrari F1 Drive Fernando Alonso Driving the F12berlineta at the Nuburgring

When you are a top Formula One driver doing interviews is just part of the job, but it isn’t usually the most exciting part. Recently, Ferrari F1 race driver Fernando Alonso was able to have a bit more fun doing it. He was able to take the F12berlinetta on the famed Nurburgring while being interviewed by Jan Krebs of the German RTL TV company.

Getting into the fast V12 Ferrari is a bit slower than his day job. However, he doesn’t usually get to drive on the track as Formula One doesn’t compete there anymore (partly for safety concerns). I know my job would be more interesting and fun if I was able to drive a Ferrari on a track while working (hint, hint).

The full interview is available over at www.ferrarif1.com. Watch it and then let us know how much you would love to do stuff like that for a living in the comments below.

Press Release

Doing interviews is probably not a driver’s favourite pastime, but when it involves grabbing a steering wheel and putting the pedal to the metal to unleash the sort of power which is almost on a par with that of a Formula 1 car, then this actually becomes a pleasure, even if it involves twenty minutes being filmed by German TV company RTL. Then, if on top of that, it takes place at one of the most amazing race tracks in the world, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, it’s really the icing on the cake. That was the case for Fernando Alonso, at the wheel of the F12berlinetta, in the video we present today. “Driving here is spectacular and gives you a great feeling, while driving it in an F12 is really the top,” said Fernando. “This is my favourite Ferrari: powerful, beautiful and unique to drive. It’s a shame Formula 1 no longer races at this track, but I think it would be too dangerous.”

It was the first time that the Scuderia driver has been able to drive a Ferrari road car on the Green Hell and this is what he had to say as he stepped out of the car: “the thing that hits you immediately is the amazing power of the engine, but also its flexibility as the revs rise like on a Formula 1 car and never seem to want to stop. It’s got sharp steering, to the extent it doesn’t even feel as though the engine is in the front. The grip is great going into the corners and it reacts really well, as if you just have to think and the car turns. All in all, it is great fun, with an amazing sound too!”

Also having fun and maybe getting a little bit scared, at least judging by his occasional exclamations, was Jan Krebs, the interviewer-passenger who sat alongside Fernando.
