Tour de France Winner Is Given Jaguar F-Type

By   July 23, 2013

Tour de France Winner Chris Froome is given Jaguar F-Type

When you just won a grueling bicycle race, probably the first thing you want to do is get in a car and drive instead of pedaling. That was probably the case for Chris Froome who just won the Tour de France. Fortunately, he had a very nice ride waiting for him because of his win, a new Jaguar F-Type.

The convertible sports car was given to Chris for his great racing. The F-Type was the V6, so not the more powerful V8 engine, but if you race for a living anyway and someone gives you an F-Type, you don’t complain. Chris looks very happy in his new car and we are sure that he will be driving for a little while until he gets back to training.

The convertible should be a perfect cruiser for the champion and we figure he is already fitting a bike rack on that car.

Let us know what you think of Chris winning a Jaguar F-Type for winning the Tour de France in the comments below.

Chris Harris Drives a Jaguar C-Type at the Historic Mille Miglia

At one time the Mille Miglia was the most important road race in the world. Unfortunately, a few fatal accidents put an end to it in its original form. It is now a road rally where you need to try to make a certain pace between stages. Recently, Chris Harris was able to drive in a very valuable Jaguar C-Type in the event, but he and his driving partner have a hard time with not just being able to drive the car fast all the entire time.

This video shows their trip in the wonderful car. The cars in this video are just amazing. They include Porsche 550 Spyders and Mercedes 300SL Gullwings, just to name a few. The 1,000 mile road rally is a once in a lifetime event that features incredible cars and many celebrities. This is the kind of event that takes you back to the early days of racing and it is great to see such valuable historic cars driven.

Also, only in Italy will they hand you an Adult beverage while at the wheel of a car.

Checkout the video and then let us know what you think of the event in the comments below.

Jaguar Surprises With The C-X75 Public Debut At Goodwood Festival of Speed

By   July 12, 2013

Jaguar C-X75 makes Public Debut at Goodwood

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is going on through the end of this weekend and today there will be a special surprise public debut of the Jaguar C-X75. The prototype hypercar that will appear at the event is one of only five in existence. The British car maker will show the concept along side with some of their other performance cars including the Project 7 (a design study based on the F-Type), XKR-S GT, XJR and XFR-S.

The C-X75 won’t just be there for show though, it will be running in the famed hill climb. The hybrid supercar is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine which doesn’t sound like very much. But the engine is both supercharged and turbocharged to get the most performance out of the small engine. When combined with the electric motors it will output a combined 850 horsepower.

It is hoped that the car will put down a very fast lap time on the 1.1 mile course. It has the horsepower to do it and couple that with the traction that will be available from the all-wheel drive system, it should get a good time.

The unfortunate thing with the Jaguar C-x75 is that it will not go into production. However, the technologies that are used in the car may find their way into other production models.

Let us know in the comments below what you think of the hybrid supercar and if you wish it would actually be produced.

Press Release

The Jaguar C-X75 is set to make a surprise public dynamic debut today at Goodwood Festival of Speed. The prototype hypercar, one of only five development and test cars in existence, will make its public dynamic debut in the Michelin Supercar Run today along with a number of exciting new sporting cars from Jaguar: XJR, XFR-S, XKR-S GT and Jaguar Project 7; a unique design study based on the F-TYPE.

The Michelin Supercar hill run takes place twice daily throughout the Festival, starting today at approximately 13.00. The Jaguar C-X75 will only be available in front of public eyes at these times, and will not be on static display at any other time throughout the Festival weekend.

The C-X75 will make its way from its hidden enclosure to the hill in silent electric-mode before firing up its innovative 1.6-litre, supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder engine on the start line.

Generating a combined electric and petrol-powered total in excess of 850hp, the all-wheel drive C-X75 is likely to set a blistering pace and generate a purposeful sound as it scorches up the narrow, winding 1.1 mile run, thereby making an impressive and unforgettable dynamic first impression on the Goodwood crowds.

Although the decision was taken in 2012 that as a result of the global economic climate the C-X75 would not enter full production, it was clear that it was a powerful showcase for Jaguar’s world-leading expertise in lightweight vehicle construction and the ideal test-bed for the company’s innovative research into high-performance, low-emission powertrains.

The great achievements in the development of C-X75 prototypes – including cutting-edge hybrid technologies, carbon composite materials and advanced design solutions pioneered in association with Williams Advanced Engineering – will be utilised in other areas of research and development, innovative future products and next-generation engineering for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

Chris Harris Drives A Jaguar F-Type, Aston Martin Vantage And Porsche 911 – Video

Jaguar F-Type, Aston Martin Vantage Roadster and Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet

Chris Harris recently was able to test a Jaguar V8 F-Type, Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and a Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet on some nice British back roads and on the track. As he tests the cars in this video he gives his take on each open-air sports car. All of the cars have their good and bad points and Chris points them out in each car.

The V8 Vantage is the oldest car in the test, but looks great on the outside and the Aston Martin badge will probably get you even more looks that the other two cars. The problem is that even as a used car it costs more than the other cars in this test.

The Jaguar V8 F-Type is a very good sports car that gives plenty of performance and style. The open air car has great styling and has that incredible sounding engine. The car is thought by many to be a Porsche killer and it has a certain special feeling that you may be lacking in a 911 thanks in part to it being new and exciting.

The 991 variant of the Porsche 911 is perhaps the best rear-engined sports car that the company has ever made. The German sports car is so competent that it makes any driver feel like they are a racing hero. The engineering and quality of the car is top notch and you won’t be unhappy if you own one. The one question is does it make you feel like you have a special car anymore? We think it does, but Porsche does need to keep an eye out for the competition as they are getting closer to being as good.

Jaguar and Gilt City are partnering to celebrate #MyTurnToJag. The luxury automotive brand and the innovative online shopping tool that brings upscale events and designer products to consumers are hosting exclusive events in New York, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles following the winners’ F-TYPE drive experience in support of Jaguar’s social media contest. The events will host Gilt members, VIPs, Jaguar brand partners and enthusiasts. Guests will have their turn in the passenger seat as a Jaguar professional driver navigates the F-TYPE through each city during the course of the event.

As part of a global advertising and marketing campaign for the launch of the F-TYPE, “Your Turn”, Jaguar North America launched #MyTurnToJag in May as a social media contest, where Jaguar enthusiasts and social media fans can submit a story explaining why it is their turn to drive the all-new two-seater sports car. Four winners will be selected based on their submission and Jaguar will curate a unique driving experience alongside Jaguar brand partners: Kelly Rowland, comedian Mark Malkoff and professional race car driver Davy Jones, among others. The drives will be filmed, shown during the Jaguar and Gilt City events, and shared across Jaguar USA’s social channels.
