Sometimes there are not really worlds to describe something. That is the case with the latest video that evo has released. The video is simple, no talking or commentary, just three great supercars driving.
The video features a Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 Plus and McLaren MP4-12C. All three cars are driven on some nice curvy roads and the short video captures the sound and feel of driving them.
Now check out the video as words just can’t do it justice.
McLaren has released a new video for their upcoming McLaren P1. The P1 is a hybrid hypercar that takes performance to the next level. The incredible car is the spiritual successor to the legendary McLaren F1 that put the company on the map.
This video shows how aerodynamics played an important role in the development of the car. Cheating the air is a large part of making a car fast and with their new hypercar air was a major factor in the design process. The video shows in a stylistic way how the air flows around the car and talks a bit about how the design has taken lessons learned in Formula One.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the great car events of the year. The festival showcases some fantastic classic and historic cars driving like they were meant to be driven. You don’t often get to see so many high performance cars ranging from new supercars to historic race cars in one place and normally they would all be parked to just look at.
One of the perks of being an important member of the automotive press is that you get an invite to the Goodwood Festival of Speed preview party. The party gives you a chance to see some of the cars that will be showcased in the festival early. Plus some of the lucky invitees get to go on the rally course in a historic rally car with a racing driver.
The highlight of this years Goodwood Festival of Speed is that Porsche will be celebrating 50 years of the Porsche 911. Porsche will be displaying a range of their cars to show the Porsche 911 through the years and also to show some historic Porsche 911 race cars. There are so many interesting and important sports cars at Goodwood that it is virtually impossible to name them all.
In the above video evo’s Harry Metcalfe drives to the preview in his Lamborghini Espada and then gets to ride in a couple of race cars. The video shows just a small sample of the amazing cars that are showcased at Goodwood. There is so much good footage that no matter what type of sports car you like, you will enjoy this video.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is important to keeping the love of sports cars alive. By allowing people both young and old to get to see their dream cars driving at speed you helps keep people interested in sports cars. I love events like Goodwood where the cars are not just parked, but are driven like there were meant to be.
A supercar like the McLaren MP4-12C isn’t normally the type of car you would take to a drag strip. Supercars are fast in a straight line, but most people take their supercars to a road course track to fully enjoy all that their cars can do. But a supercar at a drag strip can put many of the other cars to shame (of course there are also a lot of purpose built drag racers that would show a supercar a thing or two on the drag strip).
The above video shows a completely stock McLaren MP4-12C beind drag raced. The supercar manages some pretty good times around 10.5 seconds in the quarter mile drag race. Beyond this the McLaren MP4-12C is able to get to speeds of over 135MPH in that short a time. If you have the money to buy a McLaren MP4-12C and want to drag race it, go ahead and you’ll be able to win over many of the other cars.
You may notice that we post a lot of videos on this blog. There are so many great sports car related videos being put out and we want to make sure that you get to see all the ones worth watching. Having said this, we also want to put out some original videos for our readers to enjoy.
The above video is the first video in what is planned as a weekly web show highlighting the latest news in the world of sports cars. Please remember that this is the first video, so we will be improving the video quality and hopefully the acting gets a bit better (I have a lot more respect for TV News Anchors after shooting this). So, checkout the above video and let us know how we can improve this as we work on making it better (also, we are working on getting this shot in HD, but didn’t have everything ready for this week’s show).
This first episode recaps the big news from last week, the Geneva Motor Show. Because of this it highlights cars such as the Porsche 911 (991) GT3 and Ferrari LaFerrari (as well as some other highlight cars).
Beyond this Weekly Sports Car News Roundup we are working on setting up more video series involving sports car reviews and rides. The hope is to make some great content and also to meet interesting sports car enthusiasts as we film and share these videos. So, head on over to our YouTube Channel and subscribe to get our videos on YouTube as soon as they are released.
