Rolex 24 At Daytona Was Good For American Cars

By   January 28, 2015

Rolex 24 at Daytona

Rolex 24 at Daytona

This past weekend was the running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The 24 hour endurance race was a hard fought one with plenty of action.

The race include strange happenings such as the two factory backed Porsche 911 RSRs hitting each other. For fans of the German marquee it wasn’t quite the success as has happened in the past few Rolex 24s in the GT Le Mans class. However, Porsche fans enjoyed watching the Alex Job and Dempsey racing 911s manage a podium finish in the GT-America class.

The overall victory saw the number 2 Ford-Riley Daytona Prototype take home the victory beating out No. 5 Corvette Daytona Prototype by just 1.33 seconds. All this was decided in a drama filled final 30 minutes that saw action that affected half the racing classes.

The very competitive GT Le Mans class went to the number 3 Corvette and the number 93 Dodge Viper took the GT Daytona class. With American cars winning all but the GT-America and Protoype Challenge classes it was a fitting result for the American 24 hour endurance race.

It was a good start to the racing season and we look forward to much more action in the months to come.
