The McLaren 650S GT3 managed its first victory in the Blancpain Endurance Series. The win was a dominating one that featured the car climb from a starting position of 4th place in the three hour contest.

The race was just the second round of the series and shows the potential that the race prepped McLaren has. Obviously, the event at Silverstone was a good one for customer racing team Von Ryan Racing. At the wheel where Rob Bell, Shane van Gisbergen and Kevin Estre. All three being factory drivers helped give an added advantage when driving the car.

Porsche 919 Hybrid

We all know that the Porsche 919 Hybrid is a very fast car that hopes to take down Audi at Le Mans this year. But just how fast does it look in person?

If you have watched Top Gear and have seen them put a star in a reasonably priced car, then you know that sometimes a fast run doesn’t look fast. Is this the case with the 919 or does it look as fast as it is when you watch it?

Yesterday was a very exiting running of the 6 Hours of Silverstone. If that race is an indicator of how the rest of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) season will be, then it should be quite a year.

For the number 17 Porsche 919 Hybrid driven by Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber they managed the pole and led early in the race. Unfortunately, a gearbox issue forced the car out of the race and it was unable to return.

Porsche And Audi Battle At The 6 Hours Of Silverstone

6 Hours of Silverstone

The Field at the 6 Hours of Silverstone

Today was the 6 Hours of Silverstone and it was one for the ages. In the top LMP1 class it featured an epic battle between Audi, Porsche and Toyota.

This first World Endurance Championship (WEC) race of the season looks like it will setup an incredible 24 Hours of Le Mans. The LMP1 class has been much more crowded compared to a few years ago when it just had Audi and Toyota. This year it will have Audi, Toyota, Porsche and Nissan (although they aren’t competing in all WEC races this season).

Click past the jump (or scroll down if you came directly to the full article) to find out who won the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

5 Million Likes Facebook Porsche 911

You may remember the special Porsche 911 that was designed to celebrate 5 million likes of the German performance car maker’s Facebook page. The car was designed by people that liked the page via voting for the elements that the sports car should use.

This video shows the finished car and talks about the styling that was decided for the 991. It then shows footage of the lucky person that was flown to England to experience the 911 on the famed Silverstone track.

The winner was Dede Seward. She is a Porsche enthusiast that is busy on social media and is a friend of this blog. I got a chance to briefly talk to Dede about the experience at a recent event and she said it was an amazing thing to get to go to the track and get in the car.

Check out the video and then let us know what you think of it in the comments.
