Valentine’s Day was yesterday and hopefully you were able to spend time with your significant other. More than likely, your pocketbook is a little lighter today from purchasing gifts and / or dinner. But is there any gift out there that really says, I love you?
McLaren thinks so. They have introduced a special McLaren 570S Spider designed for Saint Valentine’s Day. At first glance it looks like the British supercar maker painted a car red and said there you go. But is that all they did?
Monterey Car Week is about to hit its grand finale with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. In the time leading up to the show we have captured quite a few images of some of the impressive cars in the area. Many are on display and there are also quite a few just driving around the Monterey area to attend various events.
Below are some of the pictures that we have taken so far. Check them out and then let us know which is your favorite.
Fiat recently announced the pricing of their much anticipated 124 Spider. The roadster is based off of a Mazda MX-5 platform, so handling should be very good. Styling is reminiscent of the classic Fiat 124 Spider.
The base model Spider starts at $24,995. For a new roadster that is a good deal, but how does it compare to what can be had on the used market? What if you purchase a much less expensive used Porsche Boxster (986)?
Fiat has announced pricing for their new 2017 Fiat 124 Spider. The much anticipated roadster will feature a 160 horsepower 184 lb-ft of torque engine in the standard car. 165 horsepower is available for those that go with the Abarth. The engine is a turbocharged 1.4-liter four cylinder unit, so expect for the after market to offer even more power options.
The 124 Spider is based on the Mazda MX-5, so you know that it should handle well. To say that the automotive press is looking forward to getting their hands on this Fiat is an understatement. When we interviewed MotorWeek’s John Davis at the LA Auto Show the Spider was the car at the show he was most excited about and the new Ford GT was among the machines at the show.
Ferrari makes some gorgeous vehicles that are also very expensive. The current cheapest car from the Italian sports car maker is the Ferrari California T Hardtop which starts at $202,723. Even if you purchase a few year old used 458 Spider like the car pictured above your looking at a price tag ranging between $200,000 and $350,000 depending on condition, mileage and year.
With these cars costing such a large amount of cash it creates a popular stereotype. Namely that many Ferrari owners are rich jerks. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting quite a few Ferrari owners (as well as owners of other high priced automobiles) and most are great people that are mindful of others.
